Police arrest two muggers of JNE courier in Bandung, two at large

Police in Bandung arrested two of four muggers who targeted a JNE courier in the Astanaanyar area on Sunday afternoon. The other two remain at large with the victim's motorbike and packages. The incident occurred while the courier sheltered from heavy rain.

The mugging took place around 1:30 p.m. WIB on Sunday, May 3, 2026, on Jalan Maksudi, RW 04, Kelurahan Panjunan, Kecamatan Astanaanyar, Bandung. Courier Hasan had stopped to shelter from heavy rain while delivering packages. Four assailants approached; the first two pretended to join him, followed by the others.

"One of the perpetrators asked the victim for plastic to protect his cellphone from the rain. But shortly after, the perpetrator returned with a sharp weapon and immediately pointed it," Hasan said.

Astanaanyar Police Chief Commissioner Fetrizal said they received the report that afternoon. "The victim reported being threatened with a sharp weapon. In addition, his motorbike was also seized by the perpetrators," he stated.

Police arrested two suspects the same day through cooperation with Polrestabes Bandung and residents, including tracking after the perpetrators' motorbike was spotted on social media. A folding knife was seized as evidence. However, the motorbike and 13 packages remain with the fugitives. "Alhamdulillah we have secured two people, while the other two are still under development and pursuit," Fetrizal said.

Police continue hunting the remaining two.
