South Jakarta Metro Police have revealed that Alvaro Kiano Nugroho's stepfather is the suspect in the murder of the six-year-old boy. Alvaro went missing in March 2025, and his skeleton was discovered after the suspect's arrest. Authorities are conducting DNA tests to confirm the victim's identity.
Alvaro Kiano Nugroho, a six-year-old boy, was reported missing since March 6, 2025, in Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta. His mother, Arumi, recounted that Alvaro went to a nearby mosque in Ulujami for Maghrib prayer during Ramadan but did not return. The family reported his disappearance to Pesanggrahan Police Station on March 7, 2025, though CCTV footage in the area was mostly non-functional or did not capture Alvaro.
The search lasted eight months, including trips to Bekasi based on false leads. The boy's grandfather, Tugimin (71), suspected Alvaro was kidnapped by a man claiming to be his father. Alvaro's last known appearance included a black t-shirt, black long pants, black sandals, a slim build, dark skin, short hair, and dimples.
On November 23, 2025, police discovered a human skeleton believed to be Alvaro's after arresting the suspect. South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Nicolas Ary Lilipaly confirmed the perpetrator is Alvaro's stepfather. "The perpetrator is Alvaro's stepfather," he told reporters in Jakarta on November 24, 2025. The arrest preceded the skeleton's discovery, and Pesanggrahan Police Chief AKP Seala Syah Alam verified that one suspect is detained at the Metro Police station.
Police are conducting DNA tests and forensic examinations to verify the skeleton's identity. "A human skeleton believed to be Alvaro was just found," Nicolas stated. The cause of death cannot yet be determined as the investigation continues. Further information will be provided after the process is complete.
