Renovación Nacional refers senator Camila Flores to supreme tribunal over fraud investigation

Renovación Nacional’s leadership referred Senator Camila Flores to the party’s Supreme Tribunal on Friday. The move follows a reserved investigation by the Valparaíso Prosecutor’s Office into alleged public fraud.

The decision came after OS-9 Carabineros officers arrived Wednesday at the senator’s office in the National Congress to carry out inquiries. The reserved investigation, led by prosecutor Paola Castiglione of the Anti-Corruption Unit, examines alleged irregular salary deductions from advisors while Flores served as a deputy from 2018 to 2026.

RN secretary general Katherine Martorell confirmed that the party handed all records to the Supreme Tribunal. “We have delivered all the antecedents to the Supreme Tribunal so that it adopts the corresponding measures according to our statutes,” she stated.

Martorell added that Renovación Nacional expects justice to proceed “with the utmost speed and rigor possible.” Senator Camila Flores has described the accusations as “without substance,” and her lawyer, Luis Masferrer, announced legal actions.
