The upcoming game Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy marks a shift for the series with combat replacing stealth and a new lead character named Sophia. A hands-on preview showed its focus on Greek mythology and puzzles inspired by other adventure titles.
The game follows Sophia, introduced in A Plague Tale: Requiem, as she explores a temple on the Greek island of Crete. Set 15 years before previous entries, the story ties into the legend of Theseus and the Minotaur through a dual timeline mechanic. Players control Sophia in combat encounters that draw from games like Ghost of Tsushima and Marvel's Spider-Man. A separate sequence allows control of Theseus in a melee battle with different moves. Puzzles rely on light and clues from a journal, with optional help from companion Leni. Developer Asobo Studio drew inspiration from Uncharted and Tomb Raider for exploration. Producer Eric Chort noted some mysteries remain around gameplay elements. The title is scheduled for release on August 15.
