Wisconsin hunter charged in friend's fatal shooting

A 75-year-old man from Shawano County has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide after allegedly killing his longtime hunting companion during a drinking session last year.

Brent Hofman was arrested following the November 2025 incident at a home in the Town of Germania. According to the criminal complaint, Hofman arrived with a pistol while the group discussed deer hunting and had several cocktails. He then reportedly said, 'I hope you'll excuse me if I have to kill you guys,' before firing at 67-year-old Ricky Roundy, who died inside the garage.
