The Colombian Chamber of Infrastructure warned about the potential impacts of ending the highway concession contract in the Coffee Axis early.
The CCI rejected the protests and blockades at Autopistas del Café tolls. The group noted that these actions disrupted connectivity and put users and workers at risk.
The contract remains valid until 2027 with 100 percent compliance and technical ratings above requirements. The chamber said an early termination could trigger compensation and indemnities for the state, as well as fiscal and criminal probes for officials.
The project has cut travel times and supported tourism and agroindustry. It has created more than 50,000 direct and indirect jobs, according to the CCI. Technical and contractual reviews continue with the National Infrastructure Agency ahead of the 2027 reversion.
