Government to Cover Medical Costs for Central Jakarta Abduction Victims

Presidential Special Adviser Said Iqbal stated that the state will cover all medical costs for victims of abduction and torture at a printing company in Central Jakarta. He made the remarks during a visit to a victim in Kebon Jeruk on 1 July 2026.

Said Iqbal affirmed that the government bears full responsibility for medical expenses, including psychiatric support if trauma requires it. He received a direct mandate to ensure victims' health and employment rights are protected.

He also called for legal proceedings to proceed without intimidation of victims or their lawyers from LBH Kalimantan Barat. Said Iqbal has coordinated with the National Police Chief so the case receives serious attention and perpetrators are processed according to law.

He described chaining and confining workers as both a criminal act and human rights violation. He stressed that similar incidents must not recur in Indonesia which upholds humanitarian values.
