Government unveils record infrastructure investment for Dalarna

The government has presented the national plan for transport infrastructure 2026–2037. The investment totals 1,171 billion kronor with a clear focus on maintenance in Dalarna.

The plan aims to address deferred maintenance on roads and railways. The entire road maintenance debt is to be cleared by 2037, while the railway maintenance debt is assessed to be resolved by 2050.

Several projects in Dalarna are included. These cover measures on the Dalabanan and Bergslagsbanan as well as improvements on the E16 between Borlänge and Djurås and on the E45 between Vattnäs and Trunna.

Birgitta Sacrédeus (KD), regional councillor and chair of the regional development committee in Region Dalarna, stresses the importance of the investment. She states that functioning roads and railways are essential for commuting, businesses and for keeping the county together.
