Nobel laureate Han Kang's 'Light and Thread' set for English release in March

Nobel literature laureate Han Kang's nonfiction book 'Light and Thread' is set for English release in March. It marks her first publication since winning the Nobel Prize last year. Penguin Random House announced it will hit stands on March 24.

Han Kang's 'Light and Thread' was first released in Korean in April, featuring 12 works including five poems and several new prose pieces. Three of these stem from last December's Nobel Prize in Literature events: the full text of her laureate lecture 'Light and Thread' delivered at the Nobel ceremony in Stockholm; her acceptance speech 'Even in the Darkest Night' at the following banquet; and the message 'A Small Teacup' left when donating a teacup to the Nobel Prize Museum.

The English edition is translated by Maya West, E. Yaewon, and Paige Aniyah Morris. Han is the 121st recipient of the Nobel Prize in literature and the 18th woman to receive it since 1901. She is the first Asian laureate in the category since Chinese author Mo Yan in 2012. The book reflects heightened international interest following her Nobel win and will introduce her recent works to English-speaking audiences.
