China Unicom Zhejiang Branch has deployed the province's first commercial 5G local area network at China Jushi's No 5 factory in Jiaxing, turning it into a highly efficient unmanned smart manufacturing hub.
China Jushi leads the global fiberglass industry with the world's largest production capacity. The project marks the first commercial use of 5G LAN technology in Zhejiang, supporting plug-and-play terminals while preserving the original network architecture.
Inside the factory, industrial robots handle material transport and mechanical arms perform complex procedures, with only a few technicians needed for debugging. Production efficiency has risen by over 20 percent since implementation.
Song Guangmin, director of the industrial internet support center at China Unicom Zhejiang Branch, said the factory achieves deep integration of 5G, IT and operational technologies. The two sides plan to extend the 5G LAN to multi-campus networks and promote it to global branches in Chengdu, Jiujiang and Suez, Egypt.
