Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed an election rally for Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) candidate Dipak Kumar Das in Barpeta, a Muslim-dominated district in western Assam, on Friday, April 3, 2026. He highlighted the U.P. model of dealing with rioters, where properties of troublemakers are seized and distributed among the poor and Dalits.
"In Uttar Pradesh, there is no riot, no curfew, and all is well. No one can offer namaz on the streets, and there is no shouting from any place of worship. If anyone dares to create trouble, his property is seized and distributed among the poor and Dalits," Adityanath said, insisting that rioters and infiltrators have no rights. He hinted at similarities between rioters in U.P. and infiltrators in Assam.
Adityanath accused Congress of tampering with Assam's culture and attempting to alter its demography. "Congress only encouraged infiltration, violence, and riots, putting local culture and heritage under threat... They tried to rob you of your rights, to take away your land and resources," he stated. He criticised the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) for seeking power with infiltrators' support and alleged a Congress-AIUDF alliance compromising the state's culture and heritage.
The BJP-led NDA, he asserted, guarantees stability, law and order, and a crackdown on illegal entrants. "Each infiltrator will be identified and ejected from Assam," Adityanath said, stressing resolve to stop "love jihad" and "land jihad". The NDA is committed to development while nurturing heritage. Elections to the 126-member Assam Assembly are scheduled for April 9, with counting on May 4.
