In Kerala, Modi says Gulf nations prioritize Indian expats' safety, slams Congress remarks

Addressing a campaign rally in Palakkad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Gulf nations are giving top priority to the safety of Indians amid the West Asia conflict. He accused Congress of wishing danger on Indian workers there for political gain. He stated that people of Kerala are showing trust in BJP and NDA.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed an NDA candidates' rally at Fort Grounds in Palakkad on March 29, 2026. Ahead of the April 9 Kerala Assembly election, he assured efforts to minimise the West Asia conflict's impact on India. "Since the onset of the conflict, I have been in constant touch with the heads of those countries. All nations are giving high priority to the safety of Indians," Modi said.

He alleged Congress seems to wish danger on around 1 crore Indians in the Gulf for political benefit. "The statements made by the Congress on this matter are very dangerous," he said. A large number of Keralites live in affected areas, with diplomatic missions working around the clock.

Modi criticised both ruling LDF and opposition UDF for vote-bank politics and corruption. "One claims to oppose communalism, the other claims to uphold secularism... both driven only by vote-bank politics," he said. He accused LDF of tripling Kerala's debt to ₹5 lakh crore and promised NDA would recover funds for welfare.

Positioning BJP as the "A-team", Modi highlighted women-led development and Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. He referenced Congress's Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil misconduct scandal. Later, he held a roadshow in Thrissur with Union minister Suresh Gopi and BJP candidate Padmaja Venugopal.
