Andy Murray dismisses $100k weekly coaching fee claim

Andy Murray has rejected a journalist's assertion that Novak Djokovic paid him $100,000 per week during their coaching partnership. The former world number one described the report as one of the top five lies he has encountered.

Murray responded on Instagram after French journalist Frédéric Verdier claimed the Serb paid him the substantial weekly sum. Their six-month arrangement ran from November 2024 until May 2025.

Murray wrote, “I’ve read a few lies over the years, but this is for sure top 5.” Djokovic has not publicly confirmed any coaching fees.

After the partnership ended, Murray told the BBC he turned down further coaching roles to spend time with his family. He later agreed to work with British player Jack Draper ahead of the grass-court season.

Draper is scheduled to face Marcos Giron at the Eastbourne Open on Monday as he returns from injury.
