Anisimova breaks down in tears after Wimbledon defeat

Amanda Anisimova lost to Madison Keys in the Wimbledon third round and broke down in tears during her post-match press conference. The American, who won the opening set, admitted she struggled with her forehand and needed time away from the court.

Anisimova fell to Keys 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 on Centre Court. She took the first set but made 42 unforced errors overall, including 27 from her forehand.

In her press conference, Anisimova said her game felt like it belonged at a lower level. “I feel like I’m doing everything I can and working really hard,” she said. “It’s really, really hard. I need to go home and take some time and figure out how I can fix this.”

Keys reached the fourth round for the fifth time. She praised her serve and focus on breaking points, noting the match unfolded as expected after the first set.

Former world No. 1 Tracy Austin highlighted Anisimova’s forehand issues during BBC commentary, linking them to limited match play earlier in the year due to injuries.
