Chinese start-up launches physics-based AI world model

Shanghai-based Fysics AI announced the launch of Fysiverse on Wednesday, a new-generation physics-based world model.

The model was developed by the start-up founded by former Nvidia senior manager Zhang Lihua. It embeds the laws of physics directly into its code to address common issues in existing models, such as physical illusions, reasoning failures and breakdowns in non-standard scenarios.

Fysics AI said in a WeChat post that the model represents a new paradigm that could bypass data-driven approaches favoured by US tech giants including OpenAI and Meta.

The world model sector is currently dominated by three major paradigms, including data-driven methods, Meta’s V-JEPA self-supervised learning system and three-dimensional modelling.
