Danielle Collins affirms Serena Williams holds Grand Slam record

Danielle Collins has stated that Serena Williams is the true holder of the women's tennis Grand Slam singles record. The American player made the comments while discussing the ongoing debate over Margaret Court's 24 titles compared to Williams' 23.

Collins said on Tennis Channel that anyone familiar with the sport recognizes Williams as the record holder. She pointed to the era when Court won many of her Australian Open titles.

"When Margaret Court won a lot of those Australian Opens, the draw size was 32, and only maybe three or four foreign players were going over and competing," Collins said. "The Australian Open was a very different tournament. The Grand Slams won should not be compared to Serena’s."

On June 21, 2026, Williams received a wildcard entry for the Wimbledon singles draw. The 44-year-old will return to the All England Club for the first time since 2022 and is set to compete in doubles alongside her sister Venus.

Collins also commented on the upcoming appearance. "I don’t think Serena’s out to prove anything to anyone," she said. "She’s going out looking to have fun."
