Darren Aronofsky's AI studio Primordial Soup plans to raise $15 million through an equity offering. The company disclosed the goal in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing last week. Primordial Soup launched in 2025 and has already sold more than $11 million in equity this month.

The Los Angeles-based studio, led by Aronofsky and producing partner Dylan Golden, is hiring a head of studio and generative artists for AI-focused projects. It previously partnered with Google DeepMind to create three short films using the company's Veo model, with emerging filmmakers mentored by Aronofsky.

One project, the series On This Day … 1776, used AI and traditional methods to depict moments from the founding of the United States. Episodes appeared on Time's YouTube channel. In a May talk in Cannes, Aronofsky said the work was an experiment and stressed that AI requires significant human input.

Aronofsky has explored new technology in prior work, including the 2023 film Postcard from Earth for the Sphere venue in Las Vegas. The Hollywood Reporter first reported the fundraising plans.
