Death Cab for Cutie releases new album on Anti- Records

Death Cab for Cutie has released its 11th album, 'I Built You A Tower', marking the band's first project on Anti- Records after more than 20 years with Atlantic.

The album came out on June 5 and draws from frontman Ben Gibbard's experiences with divorce and therapy. Gibbard described the record as an internal exploration of his past, avoiding bitterness and instead focusing on honesty and connection. In a recent interview, Gibbard noted the move to Anti- Records brought a sense of lightness and creative freedom. He highlighted a return to more organic songwriting methods, including live drumming, after reflecting on past work during anniversary tours. The band is set to begin a UK and European tour in September. Gibbard said he feels much better now and views the album as part of moving forward while carrying pieces of the past.
