Deer at military academy brought back after short escape

A deer living on the campus of the Korea Military Academy in northern Seoul briefly escaped the grounds on Thursday afternoon but was safely returned about an hour and 10 minutes later. Firefighters and vehicles were deployed to guide the animal back after finding it near a nearby stream. No injuries or property damage were reported.

A deer residing on the campus of the Korea Military Academy in northern Seoul escaped the grounds on Thursday afternoon. The animal, which typically roams freely in a park inside the academy, slipped past a vehicle barricade at one of the gates and quickly exited.

Gate personnel and CCTV operators spotted the deer but were unable to stop it. Authorities deployed two vehicles and about 10 firefighters to search for the animal, which was later found near a nearby stream. They guided it back toward the campus, and it returned safely around 2:30 p.m., approximately an hour and 10 minutes after the escape.

No one was injured, and no property damage was reported. The Army academy has been raising deer on its grounds for about 30 years, with eight deer currently living in the campus park. The incident concluded without further issues, highlighting the routine presence of these animals on the premises.
