Destiny 2 patch delayed after Bungie layoffs

Bungie announced a delay to an upcoming Destiny 2 hotfix and weekly update following recent staff reductions at the studio. The company provided no revised schedule for the patch originally set for next week.

Bungie posted on June 26 that this week’s TWID and the patch planned for Tuesday have been delayed. The studio said it will provide more information when possible.

The delay stems from layoffs that affected nearly 300 developers at Bungie. Impacted staff included members of the Destiny 2 live-service team as well as developers working on Marathon.

Destiny 2 received its final content update earlier in June. At the start of 2026 the studio had still been promising future expansions before those plans changed in the spring.

A Bungie representative stated that a handful of fixes in the delayed patch came from affected team members and asked fans to show support for the team once it ships.
