Disney+ sets April premiere for Korean crime thriller 'Gold Land'

Disney+ has scheduled the premiere of 'Gold Land,' a new Korean crime thriller written by 'Oldboy' screenwriter Hwang Jo-yoon, for April 29. The series stars Park Bo-young as a woman drawn into smuggling and fleeing with stolen gold. It marks an expansion of the streamer's Korean content lineup.

Disney+ announced an April 29 premiere for 'Gold Land,' a crime thriller penned by Hwang Jo-yoon, known for his work on 'Oldboy' and 'Memoir of a Murderer.' The story follows Kim Heeju, played by Park Bo-young of 'Light Shop,' whose romance with a pilot pulls her into a smuggling operation. Manipulated by criminals, she escapes with stolen gold and returns to her hometown while evading pursuers like Woogy, portrayed by Kim Sung-cheol from 'No Way Out' and 'Troll Factory.' Kim Sung-hoon, director of 'Chief Detective 1958' and 'Confidential Assignment,' helms the series. The show launches with two episodes on April 29, followed by two new episodes each week, concluding on May 27. This release bolsters Disney+'s growing Korean slate, which includes the upcoming romantic comedy 'Perfect Crown' premiering April 10. That series features IU from 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' and 'My Mister,' alongside Byeon Woo-seok of 'Lovely Runner,' under director Park Joon-hwa and writer Yoo Ji-won. It will stream internationally on Disney+ and on Hulu in the United States. Future Korean titles on the platform encompass 'Portraits of Delusion' starring Suzy and Kim Seon-ho, 'The Remarried Empress' with Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk, and Lee Se-young, plus second seasons of 'Made In Korea' and 'A Shop For Killers.' Current offerings feature the espionage series 'Made In Korea,' political thriller 'Tempest,' and fortune-telling competition 'Battle of Fates.'
