DTC to operate 15-day special bus service for Surajkund Mela

The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will run a special bus service for the Surajkund International Crafts Mela from January 31 to February 15. This service will use two electric nine-metre buses from Southeast Delhi's Badarpur Border Metro station to the Surajkund Mela Ground, covering about four kilometres. The initiative aims to ensure smooth travel and prevent overcrowding or overcharging by private vehicles.

The Surajkund International Crafts Mela, a major cultural event drawing visitors from across India and abroad, will take place from January 31 to February 15. To facilitate easy access, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has planned a dedicated bus service in coordination with the Haryana Transport Department, as the venue lies in Haryana's jurisdiction.

Two electric nine-metre buses will run from Badarpur Border Metro station in Southeast Delhi to the Surajkund Mela Ground, spanning roughly four kilometres. The route includes Badarpur Metro station, Badarpur Border, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Prahladpur, Surajkund Chowk, and Manav Rachna School. Officials note that these eco-friendly buses will help ease congestion and support sustainable transport while providing reliable rides.

Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh stated, “Surajkund Mela is a proud cultural celebration that attracts visitors from across India and abroad. Our priority is to provide safe, reliable and affordable public transport so that families and tourists can travel without inconvenience. The dedicated DTC bus service will ensure seamless last-mile connectivity from the metro station to the mela grounds while promoting clean and eco-friendly mobility.”

Services will operate at frequent intervals throughout the day. Buses from Badarpur Border to the mela will depart from 10 am to 2:35 pm every 20 minutes. In the return direction, from the mela to Badarpur Border Metro station, departures begin at 10:20 am. A detailed schedule will be displayed at the metro station, bus stops, and mela premises for passenger convenience.
