Women in Delhi are queuing for hours to obtain the Pink National Common Mobility Card for free travel on DTC buses. Moumita Pal missed two days of work and took a pay cut at the Sarojini Nagar DTC depot. The Transport Minister claims the scheme is running smoothly.
At the pass section of the Sarojini Nagar Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) depot, Moumita Pal made her second attempt to obtain the Pink National Common Mobility Card (PNCMC), or Saheli card. The Delhi government scheme allows women free travel on DTC buses.
The card replaces the pink ticket system introduced by the previous Aam Aadmi Party government. It is a welfare initiative of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, launched by President Droupadi Murmu in March.
Moumita Pal missed two days of work and took a pay cut to queue up, as reported by The Hindu. Women have complained of long waits. Delhi Transport Minister stated there are no snags in the scheme.
