Falun municipality hosts care camps to attract eight-year-olds to healthcare

Falu kommun is holding care and nursing camps for eight-year-olds during weeks 25 and 26. The goal is to spark interest in healthcare professions to meet future staffing needs.

The children get to try scraping tartar, riding ceiling lifts and testing surgical overalls. The municipality has expanded its vocational camps this year to include electrical, technical and care and nursing camps in addition to previous construction and car camps.

Sofie Reimertz, operations developer in the municipality, says they need to increase interest at an early age in a playful way. A total of 230 children applied for the 120 places on the municipality's vocational camps.
