Khairun Nisa, or Nisya (23), a woman from Palembang who posed as a Batik Air flight attendant, has been revealed as a victim of a fake job scam. After her video went viral on social media, police secured and examined her at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The motive for the disguise stemmed from family pressure and a Rp30 million loss from the scam.
The case of the fake flight attendant that shook social media has been further uncovered. Khairun Nisa, commonly known as Nisya, aged 23 and from Palembang, drew public attention after a video of her wearing a Batik Air flight attendant uniform circulated widely. The incident occurred on Batik Air flight ID 7058 from Palembang to Jakarta last Tuesday.
Polresta Bandara Soekarno-Hatta, under Polda Metro Jaya, secured Nisya following a report from cabin crew suspicious of her identity. The examination followed the viral spread of the video on social media. Kasat Reskrim of Polres Bandara Soekarno-Hatta, Kompol Yandri Mono, explained that Nisya obtained the uniform online, though its pattern differed from the original.
"She got that uniform online. It was noticed because of the different pattern. Then, she came from Palembang to Jakarta with family permission to apply for a flight attendant job, but failed," said Kompol Yandri Mono.
The examination results revealed the motive behind Nisya's disguise. She came to Jakarta with her mother's permission to register as a flight attendant but fell victim to a fake job offer scam. Nisya handed over Rp30 million to parties who became unreachable after the process failed.
"Yes, basically at the start she was a victim. She wanted to become a flight attendant, handed over about Rp30 million. Then it turned out to fail and the people couldn't be contacted," added Yandri.
This case highlights the risks of job scams in Indonesia, where many young job seekers become targets. Police continue to investigate the motives further, while Nisya has been returned to her family after publicly apologizing.
