Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar praised Shifa Al-Orman Cancer Hospital in Luxor as a successful model of state and civil society cooperation during its 10th anniversary event on June 20.
Speaking at the celebration, Abdel Ghaffar noted the hospital’s decade of free cancer treatment delivered to high standards. This has eased burdens on patients and families while improving access to specialised care for Upper Egypt residents.
The event drew senior officials including Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsy and Local Development Minister Manal Awad along with governors and institutional representatives. Abdel Ghaffar highlighted Egypt’s strategy for expanding healthcare and achieving universal coverage.
He commended the Al-Orman Association’s governance model and the dedication of the hospital’s doctors, nurses, technicians, administrators and volunteers. Shifa Al-Orman now stands as one of Upper Egypt’s leading specialised cancer centres serving patients nationwide.
