Stenson T26 in senior debut at Senior PGA Championship

In the first article of this series, Henrik Stenson announced plans for his senior golf return post-LIV Golf relegation, entering the Senior PGA Championship. Now competing at The Concession Golf Club, the 2016 Open winner sits tied for 26th after even-par 72 and 2-under 68 through two rounds—his first senior event after turning 50.

Stenson, fresh off an eight-month break since his LIV exit, reconnected with senior circuit veterans at the Florida venue. He made the cut comfortably and joked in press about his driving: “My average? Yeah, I’ve trimmed it down to about 360 to go easy on the guys,” adding a 290-yard carry.

The hiatus, his longest since 1989, left him “relaxed, refreshed.” Having settled DP World Tour fines and regained eligibility, he eyes next week's Legends Tour debut in Barbados, PGA Tour Champions post-August suspension lift, and senior majors like the Senior Open. Reflecting on 50, Stenson said, “You never want to turn 50. It beats the alternative, but yeah, time flies.”
