Interior Minister Tito Karnavian reviews BSPS program in Balikpapan with Housing Minister

Indonesia's Interior Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian and Housing Minister Maruarar Sirait inspected preparations for the Self-Help Housing Stimulus Program (BSPS) in Teritip Ward, Balikpapan, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. They verified recipient data accuracy and confirmed aid reached eligible recipients. Karnavian launched the BSPS program across Kalimantan island virtually from the site.

Interior Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian and Housing and Settlement Areas Minister Maruarar Sirait visited Teritip Ward, Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan, on May 5, 2026. They dialogued with residents and checked building conditions and economic capacity of BSPS aid recipients. The inspection confirmed aid was distributed to eligible parties meeting the criteria.

Karnavian expressed appreciation to the East Kalimantan Provincial Government and Balikpapan City Government for their support. "There was a gotong royong scheme earlier, local governments are also moving. That's good in my view. Local governments with good PAD (Original Local Revenue) can allocate housing programs," the Interior Minister stated. He stressed the need for regional leaders' support to provide decent housing for the public.

After the review, they observed a community tender simulation at SMPN 13 Balikpapan, enthusiastically joined by locals. Karnavian then launched the BSPS program across Kalimantan island virtually, marked by striking a gong amid applause. Attendees included East Kalimantan Governor Rudy Mas'ud, Balikpapan Mayor Rahmad Mas'ud, and Forkopimda officials.
