Kenya Ports Authority opens 194 internship positions

The Kenya Ports Authority has announced 194 internship and apprenticeship positions for young professionals in the maritime and logistics sector. The one-year program, starting in April, targets recent graduates aged 27 and below.

The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has announced 194 internship and apprenticeship opportunities for holders of diplomas and degrees across various departments. The announcement was made on Tuesday, March 10, with the positions running for one year beginning in April.

KPA states that the program seeks to offer practical training and exposure to the maritime and logistics sector in a real workplace setting. “KPA is pleased to announce 194 internship/apprenticeship vacancies across various departments. The objective of the Kenya Ports Authority internship/apprenticeship program is to provide young adults with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and exposure to the real workplace environment,” the authority said in its notice.

Available positions include container terminal operations, engineering, information technology, supply chain management, corporate communications, research and marketing, marine engineering, civil engineering, safety and environmental management, ferry operations, security services, and human resource management.

To qualify, applicants must be Kenyan citizens aged 27 or younger. They need to have graduated with an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate from a recognized institution between January 2023 and December 2025. Candidates should not have previously completed any internship or gained related work experience since graduation, nor retired or exited formal employment.

Interested individuals must submit applications online via the KPA career portal by March 27. However, KPA notes that the program does not guarantee employment upon completion, and successful applicants must complete the full 12-month period to benefit. Incomplete applications will not be considered, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

The authority emphasizes it is an equal opportunity employer, encouraging persons with disabilities to apply, while warning that any canvassing will result in disqualification.
