VOCAL Africa entra com ação judicial contestando contratações da KPA

Grupos de direitos humanos liderados pela VOCAL Africa entraram com uma petição no Tribunal Superior de Mombaça contestando o recrutamento de 296 funcionários pela Autoridade Portuária do Quênia (KPA).

A petição foi apresentada em 15 de maio na Divisão de Constituição e Direitos Humanos. O documento nomeia a Autoridade Portuária do Quênia, a Comissão de Serviço Público e o Procurador-Geral como partes respondentes. Os copeticionários incluem a Muslims for Human Rights e a She Rises Organization.

O diretor executivo da VOCAL Africa, Hussein Khalid, afirmou que o processo violou os procedimentos estabelecidos. Ele acrescentou que o grupo está solicitando ao tribunal que declare todo o exercício nulo e sem efeito e ordene a realização de um novo processo de recrutamento.

A KPA iniciou a campanha de contratação em novembro de 2025 e recebeu meio milhão de candidaturas para cargos com salários entre 67.000 e 132.000 xelins quenianos. O CEO, Capitão William Ruto, manteve a posição de que o recrutamento foi conduzido de forma aberta por meio de um sistema online que selecionou os melhores candidatos.
