Vocal Africa dépose une requête contestant les recrutements de la KPA

Des groupes de défense des droits humains, menés par VOCAL Africa, ont déposé une requête auprès de la Haute Cour de Mombasa pour contester le recrutement de 296 employés par la Kenya Ports Authority.

La requête a été déposée le 15 mai auprès de la division Constitution et Droits Humains. Elle nomme la Kenya Ports Authority, la Commission de la fonction publique et le procureur général comme défendeurs. Les co-pétitionnaires incluent l'organisation Muslims for Human Rights et She Rises Organization.

Le directeur général de VOCAL Africa, Hussein Khalid, a déclaré que le processus a bafoué les procédures établies. Il a ajouté que le groupe demande au tribunal de déclarer l'ensemble de l'exercice nul et non avenu et d'ordonner une nouvelle procédure de recrutement.

La KPA a entamé cette campagne d'embauche en novembre 2025 et a reçu un demi-million de candidatures pour des postes dont les salaires varient entre 67 000 et 132 000 KES. Le directeur général, le capitaine William Ruto, a maintenu que le recrutement a été mené de manière ouverte via un système en ligne qui a sélectionné les meilleurs candidats.

Les pétitionnaires soutiennent que le mérite et l'équilibre régional n'ont pas été correctement pris en compte et réclament un processus transparent conforme aux réglementations de la fonction publique.
