Un militant conteste en justice le système de financement de la santé au Kenya

Le militant Francis Awino a déposé une plainte devant la Haute Cour de Kiambu pour contester la légalité du nouveau système de financement de la santé au Kenya, qui inclut la Social Health Authority.

Awino soutient que des activités telles que les retenues de cotisations, le traitement des demandes de remboursement médical et la gestion des prestations des membres sont effectuées sans respecter la loi ni la transparence requise.

Il affirme que ces opérations s'apparentent à des activités d'assurance et nécessitent une autorisation légale explicite. Les parties nommées dans la plainte incluent le ministère de la Santé, le Trésor national, la SHA, la Digital Health Authority, la Public Service Commission et la Teachers Service Commission.

Le juge Bahati Mwamuye a ordonné à toutes les parties de déposer leurs documents d'ici le 8 mai 2026, les réponses étant attendues avant le 22 mai 2026. L'affaire doit être mentionnée à nouveau le 9 juin 2026 pour de nouvelles instructions. Awino demande également des ordonnances visant à suspendre la mise en œuvre du système jusqu'à ce que l'affaire soit entendue et tranchée.
