Quênia realiza simulados de vazamento de óleo em Lamu antes da produção de dezembro

O governo concluiu esta semana quatro dias de treinamento sobre vazamento de óleo em Lamu, como parte dos preparativos para a produção comercial de petróleo esperada para dezembro de 2026.

O treinamento foi liderado pelo projeto do Corredor de Transporte Lamu-Sudão do Sul-Etiópia. O foco foi a proteção ambiental, prevenção, preparação e resposta para as equipes que manuseiam carregamentos de petróleo.

O oficial de ligação do escritório regional de Lamu, Ali Shee, afirmou que o exercício reflete o compromisso com o desenvolvimento responsável de infraestrutura e a gestão ambiental. Os simulados visam proteger os ecossistemas costeiros e os meios de subsistência das comunidades na área.

O secretário de Gabinete de Energia e Petróleo, Opiyo Wandayi, anunciou em 5 de maio de 2026 que a produção da Bacia de South Lokichar deve começar antes do final do ano. O Quênia está construindo um oleoduto de 890 quilômetros de Turkana a Lamu para apoiar as exportações.
