Kimimaro added as playable character in Shinobi Striker update

Bandai Namco has released a new update for Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, introducing Kimimaro as the latest playable character. The DLC features his bone-based abilities and new cosmetics ahead of Season 10. Players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC can now access the content.

On February 27, Bandai Namco Entertainment added Kimimaro, a Sound Village shinobi from the Kaguya Clan, as a playable character in Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker. Developed by Soleil Ltd., the game supports 4v4 battles across various settings and is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, with compatibility for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Kimimaro brings his bone-based Kekkei Genkai to the game, including Ninjutsu moves such as Dance of the Camellia, Larch Dance, and Clematis Dance for close-quarters combat. The update also introduces SS+ rank weapons, including the Passion Gear 'Youth at Full Power' in a refreshed Scroll Lineup, with the White Light Blade 'Kamui' planned for later. New cosmetics include a Boruto-era Orochimaru outfit and matching hairstyle, a digital shrapnel ninja tool, Kimimaro's bone dance weapon, and the title 'The Sound Ninja Five'.

A promo video showcasing the additions is available on the official Bandai Namco Entertainment America YouTube channel. This content arrives as the game approaches Season 10, building on dozens of previous characters and updates since its release.

Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker holds a Metascore of 61/100 on Metacritic from 29 critic reviews and an audience score of 5.8/10 from over 180 user reviews. The update provides new material for fans while Studio Pierrot focuses on a seasonal production approach for the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex anime. In January, Studio Pierrot president Michiyuki Honma stated that the company prioritizes quality over quantity by producing season-by-season, avoiding issues like catching up to source material that have affected other series such as Hunter x Hunter.
