Lauv drops out of Khalid tour over mental health

Lauv has withdrawn from his opening slot on Khalid's It’s Always Summer Somewhere Tour due to mental health struggles. The announcement came via Instagram on Tuesday. Khalid responded with a message of support.

Lauv shared his decision publicly on social media. “I’ve been trying to be strong enough to get back out there and share this music with all of you,” he wrote. “But I have to be honest with myself and with you: I’m deeply struggling right now, and I need to step away for a little while to take care of my mental health.” He apologized to fans, Khalid and tour attendees. Lauv noted his history of openness about mental health issues, which he said are reflected in much of his music. He expressed hope that his statement might encourage others to seek help. Khalid posted his own message of support. “I wish you an abundance of love, light, and clarity through your dark times,” he wrote. He praised Lauv’s performances and said fans would continue to stand by him. The pair released the single “Tied Up” in May. Khalid began the tour, his first in six years, to promote the album After the Sun Goes Down. About half the U.S. dates remain.
