LeTourneau track teams set records at season-opening meet

LeTourneau University's men's and women's track and field teams kicked off their season with strong performances at the McNeese Indoor I in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Multiple program records were broken, and several athletes achieved personal bests in various events. The YellowJackets showed promise with top finishes across sprints, throws, and distance races.

The LeTourneau men's track and field team impressed at the McNeese Indoor I, shattering two program records. Calvin Mason from West Rusk set a new indoor weight throw mark of 16.17 meters, earning third place among 15 competitors. He followed with a fourth-place shot put of 15.35 meters. In his collegiate debut, Xander Nabors broke the 55-meter dash record with a time of 6.78 seconds, finishing fifth.

Other highlights included Ben Sweatt's personal best of 7.01 seconds in the 55-meter dash and a fifth-place triple jump of 13.6 meters. The 600-meter run saw personal bests from Austin Jett (1:29.18), Justin Lindberg (1:33.62), and Jean-Michel Ndiaye (1:34.31), with Xavier Davila leading at 1:27.36 for sixth place. Grayson Gaddis placed third in the mile with 4:31.42, while the 4x400-meter relay team of Lindberg, Chris Morelli, Davila, and Jett finished sixth in 3:43.58.

On the women's side, Madi Williams won the 55-meter hurdles in a program-record 9.39 seconds during her first collegiate meet. Victoria Wilson broke the indoor long jump record with 5.08 meters for fifth place and set a personal best shot put of 9.89 meters. Hannah Dunster secured second in the 200-meter run (27.39 seconds), seventh in high jump (1.50 meters), and eighth in long jump (4.93 meters). The 4x400-meter relay of Wilson, Williams, Felice Mullinax, and Madelyn DeLosSantos placed fifth in 4:21.04.

Personal bests were also recorded by Mullinax in the 600-meter (1:47.13), Alayna Galloway in the mile (5:45.27), and Peyton Chaney in the 3000-meter (12:17.08). LeTourneau will next compete in the Fastrak Athletix Collegiate Challenge in Houston on January 24.
