Linda Noskova's father seeks peace after Wimbledon triumph

Linda Noskova's family is adjusting to sudden fame after the 21-year-old won Wimbledon on Saturday. Her father, Drahos Nosek, said the attention has been overwhelming for the family from the village of Bystřička.

Nosek told Tenisportal.cz that the family is looking forward to some peace and quiet. “It gives me chills, we’re not used to it, we’re just ordinary people from the village, and now all of a sudden this,” he said. “We’re looking forward to peace and quiet, I think Linda has had enough.”

Noskova has received a hero’s welcome in Czechia. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and President Petr Pavel praised both her and Karolina Muchova after their all-Czech final. Pavel invited the players to Prague Castle.

Noskova has already made public appearances, including an emotional meeting with fans in Přerov. “When I see all of you here, it makes me a little teary-eyed,” she said. She added that she was glad to be back home after her victory.

The win earned her a career-high ranking of No. 7 and $4.8 million in prize money. Her father also reflected on the family’s earlier financial struggles before her success on the tour.
