Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham has praised Sam Fender and named the track 'People Watching' as his favourite song.
Buckingham posted a video on his YouTube channel in which he and his son Will watch Fender perform the song live from the London Stadium. He noted that the guitar part and overall structure reminded him of early Fleetwood Mac records. Buckingham said the track holds a consistent emotional space and added that Fender's voice and tone stand out. He also called Fender's earlier hit 'Seventeen Going Under' great but described 'People Watching' as the more complete song. Buckingham said he is looking forward to hearing more from the artist. Fender recently accepted an Ivor Novello Award and used the speech to urge the music industry to support more working class voices.
