Beauty company Lyko in Vansbro has warned 70 white-collar workers and terminated around 30 warehouse staff after worse-than-expected results. CEO Rickard Lyko stresses that the firm will grow in the long term and create more jobs locally.
Lyko, a major beauty firm with operations in Vansbro, has cut staff to reduce costs. The reason is poorer results at the end of last year, according to CEO Rickard Lyko.
Around 30 probationary warehouse workers in Vansbro were told in early March that they would not continue with the company. It remains unclear which offices are affected for the 70 warned white-collar workers – possibly Vansbro, Borlänge, or Stockholm.
"Short-term, it makes one worried because we're used to just growing and hiring more. Long-term, there will continue to be more job opportunities in Vansbro; we will keep growing here," says Rickard Lyko.
"We don't know that yet because we're in the middle of this process," he adds regarding the locations of the warnings.
The company is working to improve profitability after the cost-saving package, but the CEO is optimistic about the future in Vansbro.
