Police arrested a man identified as SR suspected of raping his neighbor's child in Cakung, East Jakarta, on 19 June 2026. The acts are said to have occurred since 2025.
The incident took place on Friday, 19 June 2026, when the fourth-grade victim was found naked in the bathroom of the suspect's rented house. The suspect attempted to flee by breaking through the roof but was caught by residents.
East Jakarta Metro Police public relations chief AKP Made Budi said the suspect admitted the acts began in 2025 and occurred three times. He confirmed the suspect was the victim's neighbor who rented a house nearby.
East Jakarta Metro Police PPA unit chief Kompol Lina Yuliana said the victim's physical condition is good, while the visum report is still awaited from RS Polri. The suspect is now detained at East Jakarta Metro Police and charged under Article 473 paragraph (2) letter b in conjunction with Article 126 paragraph (1) of the 2023 Criminal Code, carrying a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison.
