Chancellor Friedrich Merz has decided on key cabinet changes according to sources in union circles. Nina Warken is set to become head of the chancellery.
Health Minister Nina Warken is set to become the new head of the chancellery. She succeeds Thorsten Frei, who is to take over leadership of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group after Jens Spahn's resignation.
The 47-year-old Warken would become the first woman in the role. Carsten Linnemann is to replace Warken at the health ministry.
Frei is scheduled to be elected new chairman by the group next Wednesday. Spahn resigned last Saturday.
According to Handelsblatt, Merz has made the personnel decisions. Official confirmation is still pending.
