Metallica confirms Life Burns Faster residency at Sphere

Metallica has announced an eight-show residency titled Life Burns Faster at the Sphere in Las Vegas this October. The performances will feature unique set lists in line with the band's No Repeat Weekends tradition. Drummer Lars Ulrich expressed excitement about the innovative venue.

After months of rumors, Metallica confirmed on February 25, 2026, a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The metal band will perform eight dates under the banner Life Burns Faster, a lyric from their song “Master of Puppets.” The shows are scheduled for October 1, 3, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, and 31, grouped into two-night sets with no repeated songs between Thursday and Saturday performances, continuing the No Repeat Weekends format that began with their M72 World Tour in 2023. The band is currently touring in support of their 2023 album, 72 Seasons, with a European leg starting in May, including dates in Frankfurt, Zürich, Berlin, Bologna, Budapest, Dublin, Glasgow, Cardiff, and London, culminating in two nights at London Stadium on July 3 and 5. The residency follows the 2026 tour dates. Single tickets and No Repeat Weekend packages go on sale at 10 a.m. PT on March 6, with presale registration available on the band's website. Drummer Lars Ulrich shared his enthusiasm in a statement: “About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ’23, I thought, ‘We have to do this; it’s completely uncharted territory!’ This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way fuckin’ psyched to go next level!” Last August, during an interview with Howard Stern, Ulrich discussed the possibility, noting that the band had visited the venue and were impressed by U2's 2023 opening residency. He said, “It’s something that we’re looking at, at some point, when the 2026 tour is done,” and affirmed, “I would fucking love to do it.” The Sphere, known for its 16K wraparound screens and immersive sound system, has hosted residencies by acts including U2, Eagles, Phish, Dead & Company, Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band, and Backstreet Boys. Metallica, the first band to perform on all seven continents, including a 2013 show in Antarctica, continues to push boundaries in live performances, as seen in their collaborations with the San Francisco Symphony and the IMAX film Through the Never.
