Netflix unveils trailer for survival thriller Apex

Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming survival thriller Apex, starring Charlize Theron as a grieving woman hunted by a serial killer played by Taron Egerton. Set in the Australian wilderness, the film promises intense action and suspense. The trailer arrived as a Christmas treat on December 25, 2025, with the movie set to premiere globally on April 24.

The trailer for Apex opens with a chilling warning from Taron Egerton’s character, a crazed serial killer, to Charlize Theron’s protagonist: “Run for your life!” It depicts Theron’s character, a grieving woman named Sasha, venturing into the unforgiving Australian wilderness only to become the target in a deadly cat-and-mouse game.

A foreboding voiceover sets the tone: “You’re special Sasha. I already know about you.” It continues, “Danger makes you feel alive. Perfection’s the only option. But this is completely different. You think you can handle that? Run for your life.”

Directed by Baltasar Kormákur with a script by Jeremy Robbins, Apex also features Eric Bana in the cast. Filming took place in remote Australian locations, including deep rivers described by Theron as “no man’s land.”

At Netflix’s 2025 upfront in May, Theron shared insights into the production, joking about an injury sustained on set. “God, I miss early mornings in the wilderness, birds chirping, extremes babbling, and the leaves rustling as a serial killer waits for me,” she said. “It’s actually a miracle that I’m here today. Apex only wrapped like a week ago, so I’m fresh off the mountain. I still have some Australian dirt under this pretty manicure, and my cute boot is hiding a fractured toe.”

Theron praised the experience as “one of the most incredible” of her life and noted she performed stunts that allowed her to “outdo the action that I did in Old Guard 2.” The film wrapped recently before the trailer's release, building anticipation for its spring debut.
