Omollo alerta contra a interrupção da reunião do Linda Mwananchi em Kisumu

O Secretário Principal do Ministério do Interior, Dr. Raymond Omollo, visitou Kisumu ontem, emitindo advertências severas a grupos políticos que planejam interromper uma reunião do Linda Mwananchi. Ele prometeu medidas rigorosas contra capangas pagos que incitam a violência em Nyanza. O comício do grupo afiliado ao ODM, liderado por James Orengo, Edwin Sifuna e Babu Owino, está agendado para 26 de abril.

O Dr. Raymond Omollo desembarcou em Kisumu ontem, reforçando o compromisso do governo em combater grupos patrocinados politicamente que ameaçam a paz.
Sua visita ocorreu apenas duas semanas após o Senador Godfrey Osotsi, de Vihiga, ter sido atacado em um restaurante, o que gerou críticas aos órgãos de segurança.

Omollo enfatizou que todos os partidos políticos têm o direito de realizar reuniões em qualquer lugar do Quênia, desde que sigam os procedimentos legais.
"Se houver a intenção de realizar uma reunião pública, manifestação ou apresentar queixas, a polícia deve ser informada com antecedência, e cada queniano é livre para participar e se encontrar com outros publicamente em qualquer lugar do país, não apenas em Kisumu", disse ele.

A facção Linda Mwananchi dentro do ODM alega planos de capangas para interrompê-los, mas Omollo assegurou a liberdade dentro da lei.
"Protegemos os direitos de cada queniano, seja você lutando por algo, apoiando ou se opondo ao governo", acrescentou.
O medo de grupos patrocinados tem aumentado na região de Nyanza.
