Patton Oswalt open to Ratatouille sequel with Brad Bird

Patton Oswalt, the voice of Remy in the 2007 Pixar film Ratatouille, said he would welcome a sequel if original director Brad Bird returns with a strong idea.

Oswalt made the comments during an appearance on The Daily Beast’s “Obsessed” podcast. He stressed that any follow-up should feel organic rather than forced.

“There was never gonna be an ‘Incredibles’ sequel until he thought, ‘Wait a minute. There is a story to tell,’” Oswalt said of Bird. He added that he wants the project to expand the story in necessary ways, similar to Terminator 2 or Aliens.

Oswalt noted that the film should not be treated as a money grab. Ratatouille earned $623 million worldwide upon release and received an Oscar for best animated feature.
