Prime Minister drives excavator at new factory groundbreaking in Eskilstuna

Construction of a new excavator factory was inaugurated in Eskilstuna today. Volvo CE's facility is expected to create 300 new jobs when fully built by 2028.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Vice Prime Minister Ebba Busch (KD) took part in the inauguration. They each drove an excavator to take a symbolic first groundbreaking.

Ebba Busch said it gives hope for the future. Volvo CE CEO Martin Lundstedt stressed that the factory strengthens the entire Eskilstuna cluster.

The facility will mainly produce excavators for the European market. Existing operations in Eskilstuna include headquarters, development and component manufacturing.
