Prudential Life Insurance to fully compensate fraud damages immediately

Prudential Life Insurance has announced it will fully compensate for damages caused by inappropriate actions of its sales employees, without awaiting a third-party committee review. President Hiromitsu Tokumaru revealed this at a press conference in Tokyo. Around 300 compensation claims have already been filed.

On February 10, 2026, Prudential Life Insurance held a press conference in Tokyo to announce its policy of fully compensating customers for damages from fraudulent actions by sales employees during their tenure, bypassing the review of a third-party compensation committee it had previously planned to establish.

President Hiromitsu Tokumaru made the disclosure at the event. Investigations have uncovered that numerous current and former employees defrauded customers of money. By Tuesday, approximately 300 compensation claims had been submitted.

The company anticipates financial impacts ranging from $300 million to $350 million due to actions like suspending sales operations. Prudential emphasized prioritizing customer protection and swift resolution.

This move is viewed as a key step toward restoring trust in the insurance sector, especially following past scandals involving similar misconduct. The firm highlighted its commitment to transparency and accountability.
