The Red Sox entered Tuesday with a 14-game winning streak, the longest in Major League Baseball this season. A 6-5 victory over the Orioles on Monday extended the streak after Caleb Durbin hit a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning.
Tuesday's postponement means Boston will attempt to tie and break the record during a day-night doubleheader at Fenway Park on Wednesday. Game 1 starts at 1:35 p.m. ET with Jake Bennett starting for the Red Sox and Dean Kremer for the Orioles.
Left-hander Ranger Suarez, who has been on the injured list with a left groin strain, remains a possibility for Game 2. The Red Sox will decide based on how he feels after moderate soreness and illness kept him from a scheduled Tuesday start.
Interim manager Chad Tracy said the team will focus on the doubleheader without concern over lost momentum from the rainout.
