Red Sox tie 1946 franchise record with 15th straight win

The Boston Red Sox defeated the Baltimore Orioles 6-3 on Wednesday to extend their winning streak to 15 games, matching the longest in club history set by the 1946 team.

The victory came in Game 1 of a day-night doubleheader at Fenway Park after a rainout the previous night. Boston built a 4-0 lead in the first inning and held on behind rookie lefty Jake Bennett.

Third baseman Caleb Durbin noted the growing pressure as the streak lengthened. "You keep stacking one win over another, and then you get close, and once you get within three or four, they start to feel like playoff games," he said.

The Red Sox improved to 52-48 and sit two games above the third wild-card spot. They had been 37-48 when the streak began on July 3. Left fielder Jarren Duran described the team's approach: "We're a scrappy team. I feel like we're gonna get guys over. We're gonna score them if we have to."

Interim manager Chad Tracy downplayed personal milestones and focused on the next game. The Red Sox will attempt to set a new franchise record in Game 2, scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.
