South Ethiopia Region prepares to plant over 300 million seedlings

Preparations are underway in South Ethiopia Region to plant more than 300 million seedlings during this year's rainy season under the Green Legacy Program. The regional administration office confirmed work at 1,201 seedling stations. The effort includes plans for 67 million seedlings in a single-day planting event.

Regional officials stated that the program aims to maintain natural balance and boost productivity. Community involvement is central to restoring degraded ecosystems.

Preparations at the stations focus on fruit, mixed forest and other seedlings that support food security. This builds on planting completed in the spring season.

The regional administration office noted that the initiative lays foundations for national sovereignty and holistic prosperity.
